An experienced Royal Navy Fighter Pilot and Flying Instructor, I have a strong background working in and leading high performance teams. Human Factors Facilitation training and Human Factors Occurrence Investigation has provided an incredible insight into human performance. I am ideally placed to offer advice and counsel any organisation where human performance is THE CRITICAL FACTOR.
Over a 20 year career in the Royal Navy, which included operating in Europe, America and Asia working with the Armed Forces of various nations, I have gained a unique experience. As a Sea Harrier and Harrier GR9 pilot I led complex multi - aircraft missions from both land and sea. As an instructor I mentored and coached students to reach their full potential as fast jet pilots, providing assurance to my chain of command for the safe operation of aircraft as a Central Flying School Standards Instructor.
I Commanded a flight of display aircraft, providing leadership and supervision of display pilots, while conducting displays myself. An exchange with the French Navy provided a strategic opportunity whilst qualifying to operate the Super Etendard from the French Navy's Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier Charles de Gaulle. My final appointment in the Royal Navy was desk officer for the F35B within the Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier Capability Delivery Team - a job that required significant liaison between personnel across UK and US Defence and Industry.
Since moving to Nelson, New Zealand in 2017 I have been employed by Air New Zealand flying the Bombardier Q300 Dash 8. In addition I continue to instruct pilots in Human Factors as part of the Airline Training Team and have participated in the Air New Zealand Emerging Leadership Program.
